Sometimes you read something that has such a Zen perfection that there is nothing further to say.  So, before I reprint it, let me just say that you can read more of Mark Ravenhill’s tips for writers at http://storify.com/TheRSC/10-tips-for-writers:

Words in a play are active.  The speaker uses language to change the other characters.  It takes a while to get the hang of this.

Dialogue: Forest Hill Style

Warring schoolgirls in the ticket office at Forest Hill Station:

WS1 (dressed in hijab and shouting at the top of her voice): ‘You said I was talking about your business!  I ain’t talking about your business!’
